Some Do’s and Don’ts
Don’t begin with a project that is above a beginner level
Do start with easy projects like making a pillow or an apron.
Start with a project that you can complete in a couple of hours.
Do ask for help. Don't be embarrassed to ask questions to the person who works at the fabric store. They are usually very happy to answer questions about sewing for beginners!
Don’t have a lead foot. Go slowly when starting out.
Do not choose a fabric that has a pile, like velvet or corduroy.
Do choose a fabric that is washable like cotton, twill or denim. You should wash and dry your fabric before cutting.
Do have a good quality pair of scissors that are only used for fabric.
